BiographyDr. Blitch earned her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Texas at Austin, her M.A. from Texas State University, and her B.A. from Louisiana State University. Prior to joining New Mexico State University, she contributed to a collaborative research initiative that mapped flood-related communication networks across Texas state agencies, non-profits, research institutions, and property owners, producing actionable deliverables for state stakeholders.

What Do You Teach? Qualitative Methods and Crisis Communication.
What Do You Research? I examine how communities, families, and organizations adapt to major disruptions such as natural disasters. My work borrows from various fields such as organizational, crisis, and family communication to investigate the interwoven complexities of communication across the meso and micro areas of social life.
What is your favorite teaching moment? My favorite teaching moment is when you can see the lightbulb moment for students. AKA the moment they 'get it'.
What do you like most about NMSU? I love how kind the NMSU community is. Students, staff, and faculty approach all aspects of NMSU life from a place of kindness that can truly be felt.
