My name is Mary Adu, a graduate student in the Department of Communication Studies, NMSU. I am an international student from Ghana and a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) with a strong interest in organizational communication. My research focuses on the emotional dynamics between leaders and employees, particularly how emotions are expressed, managed, and interpreted within organizational contexts. I am especially interested in how leaders communicate during complex situations and how these interactions shape employee experiences and organizational outcomes. I aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of communication processes that foster more supportive and effective workplace environments. |

My name is Irene Angme, but everyone around me prefers to call me Reny. I am from Ghana (Upper East Region). I have a background in Communication Studies from Ghana Institute of Journalism in West Africa. I play basketball during the weekends, and I love to listen to music. I am majoring in Communication Studies here at NMSU. After graduation, I plan on enrolling in a PHD program in the field of Communication. Learning is a continuous process, and I want to work on various research projects to add on to existing literature in academia. Being a GTA, I am most proud when students in my lab are putting into practice what is being taught. |

My name is Amos Aidoo. A graduate student with the Department of Communication Studies and in my third semester in the MA Communication Studies program. I hail from Ghana in West Africa. After graduating, I hope to land a job with an NGO or Agency that works with the youth or people who need a little help to bounce back in life. The Communication Studies program gives you the ability to work on various aspects of communication before you finally find your place. With a diverse faculty who are ready and willing to help you find your feet in academia and industry, one cannot ask for anything more. |
Afroja Akter

Afroja Akter is a Graduate Teaching Assistant and M.A. student in Communication Studies at New Mexico State University. Her research focuses on internal organizational communication in non-profit organizations operating in complex and resource-constrained environments. She is originally from Cumilla, Bangladesh. She completed her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Comilla University in Bangladesh. Her current work examines internal communication strategies, practices, and channels within humanitarian contexts, particularly in refugee camp settings. Drawing on her field experience with BRAC, she investigates how communication processes influence coordination, uncertainty management, and organizational effectiveness in high-risk environments. Her research contributes to the study of communication in global development and humanitarian systems. |

Hello there! My name is Paige Corcoran (they/them), and I am from Attleboro, Massachusetts. I am currently a master’s student studying communication studies. My favorite areas of Communication to study are ethnography, interpersonal communication, and mass media communication. I am excited by human patterns within communication and how they develop and change over time. After graduating with my master's from NMSU, I plan on pursuing a PhD with quantitative, ethnographic and interpersonal focuses. Ultimately, I hopes to conduct research that supports communities, minoritized groups and creates opportunities for those interested in the humanities. |

Hello everyone! I am Jewel Das, a Graduate Teaching Assistant and a graduate student in the Department of Communication Studies, NMSU. I am from Bangladesh, a South Asian riverine country on the Bay of Bengal. I hold bachelor's and master's degrees in communication and journalism from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. My research interest aims to explore youth-led social development in marginalized communities through the lens of behavioral change communication. Before joining NMSU, I worked as a faculty member in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Port City International University, Bangladesh. My research articles were published in peer-reviewed journals, including World of Media and Mass Communicator. I also worked on research projects with UNICEF, Bangladesh Radio, and the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board.

I am Gifty Obuo Gyan and my pronouns are She/Her. I am majoring in Communication Studies. I am a Ghanaian and I come from Aburi which is in the Eastern Region of the country. My hometown is a very beautiful place. It is home to the historic Aburi Botanical Gardens and a host of other tourism sites. I believe communication is integral to human life. For me, it is the oxygen that fuels human interaction and existence. A pursuit for communication is not about becoming a good public speaker but venturing into a field that harmonizes all spheres of life and gives meaning to it. |

His research focuses on interpersonal health communication, particularly communication barriers surrounding sensitive health topics in conservative cultural contexts. He is especially interested in how cultural norms shape discussions of menstrual health and sexuality education, and how self-efficacy can help reduce communication barriers. |
