Dae Romero
Biography
Dae Romero (they/elle) obtained a master's degree in Communication Studies from New Mexico State University and has been a part of the NMSU community in various roles since 2016.
Dae’s culturally relevant pedagogical approaches revolve around the importance of intersectionality and empathy. As someone born and raised in the borderland, who is a first-generation, non-traditional, Mexican, and queer scholar, they understand how difficult it can be to navigate higher education.
In the role of Basic Course Director for COMM1115G, they intend to bring critical consciousness, curiosity, choice, accessibility, and diverse knowledge in their approach to a course in which hundreds of first-year students enroll. Through these student-centered approaches, they hope to promote the use of intersectional communication and an understanding of how important student voices are to NMSU.
Dae is dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility throughout their time as Basic Course Director and is excited to be a continued part of the NMSU community.
