This is another fund for graduate students in the Communication Studies Department with a 3.0 or higher GPA. This reward is renewable. 

A former Department Head, Walter Zakahi, started this scholarship in honor of his mother. In recognition of Dr. Zakahi’s dedication to the Communication Department through this scholarship, we award it to graduate students who have great financial need and demonstrate dedication to the department through their efforts in the Undergraduate Communication Association and/or through conducting research and presenting it at conferences. Further, all of the past awardees of this award have been first or second-generation Mexican Americans.
